PROBLEM

The PPYMCA needed a website that could effectively serve its local community while aligning with the broader YMCA brand. The existing site was outdated, difficult to navigate, and not optimized for mobile devices. The organization required a modern, user-friendly platform that would facilitate easy access to information about programs, memberships, and events, as well as streamline the process for online registrations and donations.

APPROACH

To address these needs, I implemented a comprehensive redesign and rebuild of the website using WordPress and the Oxygen Builder. Key steps included: Configuring a new WordPress installation with a custom Oxygen theme to ensure a fast, maintainable foundation. Developing custom templates in Oxygen with componentized, accessible markup and mobile-first styling to enhance user experience. Implementing a clear navigation structure and prominent calls-to-action to guide users to key information and resources.

OUTCOME

The final website delivered a modern, responsive design that effectively communicated the PPYMCA's brand values and services. Key outcomes included: A user-friendly interface that simplified navigation and removed friction from the contact process. A modular template system that allowed for quick scaling and customization as new services were added. Improved SEO performance, increasing organic visibility.
